Letter to Google

Mr. Erik Schmidt
President of Executive Committee and Chief of Administrative Executives in Google Company
The ministry of Publications in the kingdom of Bahrain attempted to close several political websites which discuss Bahraini issues freely. In which over 10000 blogers subscribe to such forums and sites to discuss Bahraini issues.
In another attempt, the ministry of publication has taken a newer step that controls the freedom of exchanging information by making the decision of stopping the Google Earth service in Bahrain. The company of communications that supplies the internet service has carried out the decision of shutting down the service without presenting any details to the public.

We urge the Google Company to take the proper procedures against closing the service, from which a lot of researchers in universities, schools and communication centers benefit. This decision is a violation of one of the human rights for it prevents citizens from receiving and exchanging information without the need to use complicated technologies.
We declare our support to your company in the aim of returning this service to Bahraini citizens either through legal or diplomatic means. our support is extended to your company in order to present your services in the right standards that match peoples’ technological expectations around the world.
We request your company to address the ministry of publication, Bahrain to stop tackling these websites and invite you to support the freedom of exchanging information in Bahrain by supporting other blocked websites in any possible means.
