European Parliament resolution on the human rights situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in particular the cases of death row inmates and human rights defenders
On behalf of the PPE Group, several members of the European Parliament call on the Bahraini authorities to:
- Halt the execution of Mohamed Ramadhan and Hussain Moosa immediately and to commute their sentences;
- Introduce a moratorium on executions as a first step towards abolition.
They also call on the Vice‑President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and EU member states to champion and pursue a vigorous campaign to secure the immediate release of Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, in the lead up to the 10th anniversary (April 2021) of his unjust imprisonment, and to secure the immediate release of other human rights defenders.
