The Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights is inviting activists from the Arab states to attend the hearing of the case of political activists Hassan Mushaima and Abdulhadi Al Khawaja in the lower criminal court on May 21.
The society will also launch a website in this regard.
Al Khawaja and Mushaima along with Shaker Mohammed were arrested on February 2 by the security forces.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, Col. Mohammed Rashid Bu Hammoud, had said in a statement that three people had been arrested on charges of instigating subversion of the political system and openly inciting hatred against the political system.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, Col. Mohammed Rashid Bu Hammoud, had said in a statement that three people had been arrested on charges of instigating subversion of the political system and openly inciting hatred against the political system.
He said the actions of those arrested were against the laws and aimed to cause unrest, damage public interest and jeopardise security by spreading rumours.
Society president Mohammed Al Maskati told the Tribune, “The website will be in English with translations in French and Spanish. The aim is to impress upon the authorities to drop the charges against the activists.
“They were exercising their right of freedom of expression and should not go to court. The moderators and designers from the society are working on the website which is expected to be ready by Monday.”
Al Maskati said bloggers were also being invited to air views on the matter.
“International media focus more on blogs and websites for news and information than Press statements. We will discuss the issue of blocking of websites by the Bahraini authorities in our new website.” The society has sent invitations to human rights organisations in London, the US, France and in Arab to attend the court hearing and report on the matter independently.
Meanwhile, the society’s marathon slated to be held in Dair and Samaheej today has been postponed to Saturday because the organisers did not receive permission from the Ministry. The society has been allowed to organise the rally on Saturday. The rally is organised in cooperation with the Committee for the Elimination of Poverty, the Committee for Housing Units and the Committee to Tackle Unemployment.
