The defamation case has been filed by the Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, Mansoor Hassan bin Rajab, over an article posted on Al Yousif’s blog.
The court had issued summons to Al Yousif who case is being handled by lawyer Fatima Al Hawaj, appointed by the BJA. A legal team from the Bahrain Human Rights Society is also assisting Al Hawaj. Al Yousif offered his condolences to judge Shaikh Mohammed bin Ali.
“The gathering shows that everybody supports freedom of expression.” Al Yousif said.
The same views were echoed by human rights activist, Nabeel Rajab from the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights (now dissolved), who was also present.
