Where do you want to die? In Busaiteen or Manama?
These are some of the threatening questions hurled at Suad Mohammed Fathalla when she answers the phone everyday.
She told the Tribune yesterday, “My children Ahmed and Jameela are with me but I fear losing them after the next hearing scheduled for February 13.
“I was in prison because my ex-husband filed a case defaming my character but was acquitted by the court on October 25, 2006.
“I lost custody of my kids. My husband who drank regularly beat me regularly despite this the court gave him custody of the kids.”

The medical reports of the Public Security dated September 9, 2006 confirmed she had sustained injuries in her head and was bleeding internally.
Suad’s eight-year-old son is currently living with the father who is employed in the Interior Ministry.
She alleged her ex-husband threatened her at gunpoint.
Speaking from her residence in Muharraq she said, “ My husband wants this house and if he gets the custody of the kids he is entitled to the house. I am from the UAE and have no relatives in the kingdom.
“My kids are growing up and they understand what is happening around. Ahmed wants to live with me and not his father.
“I did not see my kids for six months and do not want to see them away from me”.
She alleges to be under pressure to retract the allegations.
The threats she alleges started after she decided to appear on National Television and give her side of the story. During the interview she criticised the other parties involved.
The Women petitions Committee and the now dissolved Bahrain Centre for Human Rights( BCHR) is following the case of the woman. Ghada Jhamsheer from the Women Petition Committee told the Tribune yesterday, “We will fight till the end and want Suad’s children reunited with her. I took her to the United Nations in Geneva in April last year and her case was discussed.”
A spokesperson from BCHR said that they want the charges of defamation dropped against Suad and called NGO’s and human right organisations to intervene and approve the Family law.”
For Jameela, the daughter of the divorced couple, she wants both her parents to end this fight and lead a normal life.
She wants them to attend the parents’ meeting in their school, like they used to do before!
