MP Abdullah Al A’Ali, who was at the scene and intervened to end the clashes, described the police action as “intensive and excessive” adding that rubber bullets and tear gas were used against the protesters, “but no serious injuries were recorded”.
Interior Ministry spokesman Major Mohammed Bin Daina said police dispersed the crowd because they had not received permission to hold a demonstration. The organisation’s secretary general Hassan Mushaima and director of media Abduljalil Sengace were keynote speakers.
