Bahrain : Authorities Prevent Visit as Conditions of Detainees Continuing Hunger Strike Deteriorate
Reports from inside have been received on the increasing number of prisoners of the “Dry Dock”, known as Dana Mall detainees, repeatedly collapsing and were transported to the hospital because of continuing hunger strike for the eighth consecutive day. Sources revealed that the detainees are in a deplorable condition and cases of fainting have been noted because of the lack of sugar. Also noted signs of extreme fatigue, inability to move, signs of mixing of urine with blood in some cases and mixture of vomit with blood in other cases, dehydration as result of the hunger strike.

Reports from inside have been received on the increasing number of prisoners of the “Dry Dock”, known as Dana Mall detainees, repeatedly collapsing and were transported to the hospital because of continuing hunger strike for the eighth consecutive day. Sources revealed that the detainees are in a deplorable condition and cases of fainting have been noted because of the lack of sugar. There is serious concern for their lives and health, as the Authorities prevented families of prisoners from contacting or visiting them in order to prevent disclosure of the true condition and the harassment by the security personals in the form of insult, slander and insulting.
The C ommittee of Solidarity with Activists and Detainees of Conscience holds the Bahraini Authorities with full responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the prisoners who have been detained since the 10th of March, and have not yet been brought to trial. The Committee demands their immediate and unconditional release.
The Committee also appeals to the concerned international organizations to call upon the Bahraini Authorities to visit prisoners of conscience and to demand their immediate and unconditional release.
On the other hand, the Committee invites everyone to show solidarity with the detainees of conscience and their families and attend the protest called by the relatives of the detainees at 9am of Thursday, September 14, 2006 before the court in the Diplomatic area where the trial of the “Dana Mall” detainees will be held after numerous postponement .
