TNA:Bahrain preparing to receive Thai labour

BANGKOK, Sept 3 (TNA) – Thailand and Bahrain are preparing to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on sending Thai workers to work in that Arabian Gulf country, Labour Minister Somsak Thepsuthin said Saturday.

Mr. Somsak said he had discussed opening job opportunities for Thai workers with his Bahraini counterpart while attending the 14th Asia-Pacific International Labour conference held in Busan, South
Korea, last week and that the latter had expressed that Bahrain needed a significant number of Thai labourers, especially engineers and cooks.

But Mr. Somsak said Thailand wanted to send skilled labourers in order to cover high costs and that it also wanted to avoid competition with several countries which were also eyeing to send workers to that
