“Mr Hassan’s condition is really bad,” Mr Mayyanur told the GDN.
“He arrived in Bahrain 13 years ago when his wife was pregnant and he has not gone home since then, therefore has not seen his only son who is now 13 years old.
“Mr Hassan first worked at a barber shop in Budaiya, but had not seen his sponsor who took away his passport.
“He later left the Budaiya shop and worked in different barber shops. He has been therefore staying illegally in Bahrain all these years.”
Mr Hassan, who is a native of Chavakkad , Trichur , Kerala, comes from a very poor family, said Mr Nair.
“After his surgery and when he is fit to travel, we hope to approach the Indian Embassy and the immigration authorities to repatriate him to Kerala for further treatment,” he added.
“We shall also send an application to the Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) for money to buy an air ticket to send him home.”
Mr Hassan’s family is now being taken care by his father O M Moidu.
People interested to help him in his future treatment are requested to send their contributions to Mr Moidu’s account number 1953, State Bank of India, Anchangadi Kadappuram, Chavakkad, Trichur.
