Family alleges assault

A MAN arrested on Sunday is allegedly being treated at the BDF Hospital for injuries he suffered while in police custody, according to Bahrain Human Rights Society general secretary Dr Abdulla Al Deerazi.
He claimed Abbas Ahmed Khamis, from Nuwaidrat, was in a critical condition, but his family were still being denied access to him.
Dr Al Deerazi said the family believed police assaulted Mr Khamis after his arrest.

A MAN arrested on Sunday is allegedly being treated at the BDF Hospital for injuries he suffered while in police custody, according to Bahrain Human Rights Society general secretary Dr Abdulla Al Deerazi.
He claimed Abbas Ahmed Khamis, from Nuwaidrat, was in a critical condition, but his family were still being denied access to him.
Dr Al Deerazi said the family believed police assaulted Mr Khamis after his arrest.
“He is in a critical situation and could die,” he claimed.
“When they (his family) visited the (police) station they were told his case was still with the Public Prosecution so they need to go there.
“But the Public Prosecution told them they should check with the station to get permission. They are confused.”
