FIVE arsonists who firebombed a car with an exploding gas cylinder were each jailed for five years yesterday.
The Bahrainis, who targeted the Indian man’s Mitsubishi Lancer with a bomb last April, were convicted of arson by the High Criminal Court.
They smashed Mohammed K Emamudeen’s car window, put the cylinder inside and doused it with fuel, then set it alight, outside his home in Ma’ameer.

Two expatriate workers who lived in the nearby apartment suffered minor burns in the incident, while two cars parked nearby were also damaged.
One of the Bahrainis kept a lookout for passers-by while the others broke the car window and put the cylinder inside, claimed prosecutors.
They confessed to the crime during initial questioning but later changed their statements and pleaded not guilty in court.
The GDN had earlier reported that Mr Emamudeen was saved minutes before the blast by his wife’s intuition.
When he went to investigate the sound coming from outside, his wife Mubeena grabbed him by the shirt and dragged him back inside their apartment building, moments before his car erupted in a fireball.
Mr Emamudeen, from Kollam, Kerala, has worked as a salesman for Al Noaimi Foodstuff, Sitra, for the past 29 years.
He lived in the apartment with his wife and two sons, 17 year old Ajmal and 12-year-old Amjad. Mr Emamudeen told police he heard “weird sounds” coming from outside his apartment. “I heard some weird sounds coming from outside, when I looked out, I saw someone breaking the window glass,” he said. noor@gdn.com.bh
