THREE convicted terrorists appeared in court yesterday to clear their names.
The Bahrainis, who were charged with supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan, were sentenced to six months in prison by the High Criminal Court last January.
However, they were released after remaining in custody for the period of the jail term.
Two others involved in the case, a Bahraini and a Qatari, were also sentenced to prison in their absence and are yet to be arrested.
The men lodged an appeal to clear their name, claiming they had already served their jail term before the verdict was passed.
Judges adjourned the case to March 8 to validate the allegations.
A businessman, 40, along with the clearing agent, 38, stood trial for funding terrorism and arranging travel to Afghanistan for the other men, providing them with expenses and giving them money to deliver to a terrorist organisation.
Another defendant involved in the case, a 22-year-old Bahraini, admitted that he went to Afghanistan to fight alongside the Taliban.
He was arrested on August 2 after arriving from Iran and was accused of receiving training in weapons and explosives, carrying out attacks overseas and funding terrorism.
