ABOUT 50 Bahrainis demonstrated against naturalisation, corruption, sectarianism and other issues in Karzakkan village yesterday.

Demonstrators also carried photographs of detainees who are being held for illegal demonstrations at the airport and Sanabis.

Unemployed demonstrators urged the government to provide them with jobs asking why jobs were so easily available to expatriates but not to Bahrainis.

They also raised slogans against the naturalisation policy.

The event was organised by Karzakkan natives and attended by people from the village and from other areas around Bahrain.

One of the organisers, who refused to be named, said that the event was in support of the poor people in Bahrain, who are suffering because of these policies.

“We are doing this on behalf of the unemployed and the detainees. We are all suffering because of the naturalisation policy, which is a drain on the country’s resources,” he said.

Another participant said that he has been unable to find steady income for a long time, although they seem to be easily available to Asian expats. “We want jobs for Bahrainis. Why is it that foreigners can get jobs, but not nationals?”
