DEFENCE lawyers yesterday demanded a warrant to visit the crime scene of an arson attack on a farm belonging to a senior member of the royal family.
They have also asked for a court order to halt any physical abuse of the suspects.
The demands were made as 15 alleged saboteurs appeared in the High Criminal Court yesterday. The lawyers also requested to issue an order granting them multiple visits to see the suspects without any supervision, surveillance or tapping.
The judge adjourned the trial until September 8 to review the requests, which also included providing medical treatment to the suspects.
They are among 19 suspects who appeared in the same court yesterday charged with murdering a policeman.
Police are still trying to track down two other men in connection with the arson attack after those already in custody incriminated them in their testimony.
The court issued warrants for their arrest during a hearing last month, which was the first time the 13 appeared in court in connection with the arson attack.
They had all pleaded not guilty and claimed confessions were beaten out of them by police.
They are accused of setting ablaze a majlis, a bookcase, three vehicles, a horse cart and the stable after breaking into the farm through the main gate. The owner previously said the farm had been targeted by rioters since 2002. rasha@gdn.com.bh
