THREE teenagers are standing trial for allegedly torching a car belonging to a 60-year-old Bahraini. The incident happened in Sharakan in August last year and the youngsters are accused of hurling a Molotov cocktail inside the vehicle, deliberately endangering people’s lives and property.
Bahrain’s High Criminal Court heard that the car owner and a 19-year-old neighbour put out the blaze with water and sand.
Three teenagers, two aged 18 and one 19, appeared in the High Criminal Court yesterday charged with the arson attack.
Two of them, aged 18 and 19, reportedly admitted during questioning that all three were responsible. They said one of them broke the car window, while the 19-year-old set fire to a bottle filled with kerosene and threw it inside.
The court yesterday adjourned the case until May 28 to allow the defence lawyer to prepare his argument, as well as appoint a lawyer for one of the 18-year-old defendants.
