I rushed back to Bahrain with my family, cousins and relatives who have all gathered at our house in Isa Town, eagerly awaiting his arrival.”
The 39-year-old detainee has been in the infamous prison for the past six years. Isa’s move towards freedom follows the release of another Bahraini detainee Juma Al Dossary on July 16.
Sources told the Tribune that Murbati was expected to arrive early today. As the news broke, text messages circulated in the Kingdom announcing Isa’s imminent release. “We waited six years for this day. All of us are now waiting for further information from the government as to when we can meet him. His five children are excited and waiting for their father’s return from the death camp,” Isa’s brother, Usman who was closely following the case, told the Tribune.
Isa was charged by the US government of being an enemy combatant, with allegations that he was associated with A1 Qaeda.
